This small family hotel with 10 rooms dates from around 1820-1850.Therefore it offers quite a variety of rooms, from mini to very spacious, but will pleasantly surprise you with its charming atmosphere and decor in Mediterranean colors and ’70s style. All rooms in ASTORIA HOTEL HEIMBACH have a bathroom, with a special look. Especially for your comfort, each room has a water cooker for making complimentary tea and coffee. In Germany this is rare in this price range, but it is proof of my international and hospitable attitude. All beds have recently been replaced by new box spring beds with a choice of hard (Dutch) or soft (German) pillows as well as a decorative pillow on each bed. This is an example of how I try to offer good personal service. All rooms have isolated glass, so that the noise from the street and the ringing of the church bells no longer cause any nuisance. In addition, the temperature is kept at the right level. As standard, I reinvest a large part of the turnover back into the hotel. With every new visit, you will see something has been improved. At the bar you will find a wide range of international alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
Dear Guests, I run the hotel alone, often with the help of some friends and family, but without staff. .Therefore please take into account that I am not always present to welcome you personally. The bar and restaurant also are not always manned. In case there is no one there upon your arrival, call the telephone number on the door or follow the instructions in the information you received with your booking. You will then get the day code for the safe that hangs next to the night door with the key to your room and the one for the night door. Then you can come and go as you please. If you are standing on the terrace looking at the hotel, you will find the night door on the right around the corner (with Zur Talsperre above it – the old name of the hotel -. You can also contact the hotel in advance to send you the day-code and room-number by text message or email.
In the summer I am usually present during the weekend from Thursday night to Sunday afternoon; in July and August usually the entire week. Then I offer full service (with breakfast buffet, daily menu and bar). During the week the service is often limited. No evening meal is served then – unless this has been ordered and agreed upon in advance. But from 7.00 a.m. a continental breakfast is served by the neighbor in Cafe Schmitz. You pay directly to him (bookings always concern only accommodation and tourist tax; breakfast or dinner are never included in the price).
With the current general shortage of staff this is a modern and efficient way to run a modest hotel. Especially when I as owner also live in The Netherlands. Modern communication means make this possible (nowadays everyone has a mobile phone).
Pets are also very welcome at ASTORIA HOTEL HEIMBACH (small surcharge for extra cleaning costs).

HEIMBACH: The hotel is located in the city center, directly opposite the more than 1000 year old, completely restored fairy-tale castle and the INTERNATIONAL ART ACADEMY:
The smallest town in North Rhine-Westphalia, is easily accessible by car from one of the three motorways (A 4 Aachen-Cologne, A 1 Trier-Düsseldorf or A 61 Frankfurt-Cologne). The train to and from Heimbach runs every hour to Düren and is an attraction in itself.
From Düren you can get train connections to all parts of Europe, including the international airports of Cologne-Bonn and Frankfurt. The reservoir “Stausee” with a boat tour is 3 km away and the train station only 1. Cologne and Aken are approx 45 min drive.
